Chesterfield fan or not, nobody can dispute that this years FA Cup clash between the Spireites and Droylsden turned out to be a fascinating and bizarre occurrence. With the tie being played four times, something that hasn`t be seen in the modern era, with each fixture ended in controversial circumstances.

Fog saw the first match called off with the Bloods leading, a controversial Jack Lester goal saw the second match tied, floodlight failure ended the third time these two sides meet with many smelling a rat and the fourth saw the underdogs win (no not Chesterfield) but eventually got kicked out of the competition for fielding an illegal player.

As part of my university course I was assigned the opportunity to put together a ten minute piece on anything sport related, I do media and sports journalism by the way. After several suggestions my group decided to focus our piece around ‘the Droylsden saga`, with the piece achieving us a very high grade.

It was sent to the club for viewing after the help they had kindly given us the time to interview Lee Richardson and take training shots, which they decided to put it on their official club channel, SpireiteWorld.

After three months, and with the season over, my ten minute piece is now available on freeview so check it out and let me know what you think of it and see if it gives you a different incite to the whole incident.
