Pre Season Fixtures Confirmed

Chesterfield have confirmed a full list of fixtures for the build up to next season. The Spireites, who are still currently without a manager, will play a total of nine pre season friendly matches against a variety of clubs throughout a variety of leagues, including professional and non professional clubs.

Three of the nine fixtures will be played at Saltergate across the summer months, with the remaining matches being played at various away grounds.

The first pre season friendly brings Nigel Clough`s Derby County to Saltergate on Saturday 18th July scheduled for a 3pm kick off. Saltergate was the scene for this years successful football film ‘The Dammed United`, which highlighted Brain Clough`s career at Leeds United.

Just two days after their clash with the Rams, the Spireites travel north to face Northern Premier League Division One North side Garforth Town on Monday 20th July.

The busy week continues as Kevin Blackwell`s Sheffield United try to put the disappointment of Monday`s playoff defeat behind them and prepare for another promotion battling season by coming to Saltergate to face the Spireites on Wednesday 22nd July.

Local non league side Matlock Town play host days later, when the Spireites come face to face with some very familiar faces. Midfielder Steve Warne and striker Jamie Jackson come face to face with their old team mates as they now play their football for the Gladiators.

Chesterfield`s next match is against another local non league side, Glapwell Town. The Spireites will play the Well on Saturday 25th July in a 3pm kick off.

Newly promoted League One champions, Leicester City travel to Saltergate to face Chesterfield on Tuesday 28th July.

In the space of a week yet another non league local side play host to the Spireites, when Buxton invite the Blues to the Silverlands on Wednesday 29th July.

Three days later the Spireites take the journey down south to Northamptonshire to face non league side Kettering Town, where the Poppies will be looking to hoping to get their side fit after missing out on that crucial playoff place this year.

Chesterfield`s ninth and final pre season friendly see the Spireites take on Sheffield, but this time it is FC not United again. The world`s oldest club play host when the two sides meet in their annual fixture on Monday 3rd August.
