Life in league 1 continues to be good for Chesterfield as an incredible point on Tuesday saw us move up to third place in the table.

With half an hour on the clock at Deepdale against Preston North End it looked as though Chesterfield were on for a hiding, but a dramatic injury-time penalty completed a stunning comeback to earn us a 3-3 draw.

Preston started like an express train, a header from Alan Browne (7) had the hosts one-up with Joe Garner (15) capitalising on a poor Daniel Jones header making it two with just 15-minutes played.

Things continued to get worse, with less than 30-minutes played, when Josh Brownhill (28) was able to head home from close range to, at that point, it seemed basically seal the points.

We gave ourselves hope when Eoin Doyle (31), fresh from his weekend hat-trick in our four-one win, pulled one back from a Jay O’Shea cross to see us into the half time break three-one down.

11-minutes from time Doyle (79) was on hand to convert Daniel Johnson’s cross to bring us right back into the game and leave Preston facing a nervy final few minutes.

Preston looked like they would hold on until it was adjudged that Garner had handed in the area, so in the first-minute of injury-time and having scored one and missed one on Saturday Doyle (90) had the chance from the spot to get back-to-back hat-trick and earn us a point.

He made no mistake as a remarkable comeback was complete to see us go home with a three-three draw.
