Following his release by Chesterfield FC at the end of the season, midfielder Jamie Lowry could be playing League One football next year.

A successful loan spell at Crewe Alexandra has made him a wanted man at Gresty Road but previous injury problems may scupper any deal.

Lowry’s medical has highlighted concerns over his knee, with the player having endured long spells on the sidelines after an earlier cruciate ligament injury.

‘I like Jamie and he can bring something to the football club, but we have to judge that against the decisions of the consultant,’ Crewe manager Steve Davis told The Sentinel.

‘There is no point having specialist people if you are then going to ignore what they tell you.’
