Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland has set his sights on reaching the play-offs this season, using Saturday’s draw against Brentford as a benchmark for their chances.
The Spirites drew 1-1 at Griffin Park, and McFarland reckons that is an encouraging sign for the season.
‘Brentford will be serious play-off contenders and on that performance so will we,’ he said.
‘I thought we were the better team, that we outplayed them and that we should have taken three points, although their equaliser was a terrific goal.
‘We played well and produced some good football, our dream is that we will be up there at the end of the season.’
