Chesterfield have today announced the loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Georg Margreitter.

The 25 year old Austrian centre back, joins the club on a three month loan spell and he will provide cover following the sale of Liam Cooper and the injury sustained by Sam Hird.

He moved to Wolves two seasons ago from Austria Vienna and last season he was out on loan with Danish side FC Copenhagen.

Speaking to the Official Site following the capture, manager Paul Cook explained.

‘I’m delighted to have been able to sign Georg because we needed someone else in after losing Liam and Sam. Georg’s career in English football has never really got going, for one reason or another, but he had successful spells in Austria and Denmark and we believe he’ll be a useful addition to the squad.’

His loan spell will expire on December 13, but Wolves do have a 24 hour recall clause in place after 28 days and he has been handed the No 29 shirt for his time with us.
