League 1 life, at the start of the season, hasn’t seen much let up for anyone with ourselves included as its been weekend-midweek and so on for much of the season so far.

Chesterfield could quite possibly be in the automatic places come 5pm on Saturday, although a win at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium is a must for this to be even remotely possible.

Doncaster, who are struggling after relegation from the championship, don’t have any new injury or suspension worries though. Harry Forrester (suspension) is out again though but Curtis Main (knee) and Rob Jones (also knee) might be back.

Daniel Jones (hamstring) and Georg Margreitter (head) are highly likely to join Gary Roberts (hamstring) in missing out in this one.

Hat-tricks against Scunthorpe United and Preston North End, the latter an incredible three-three draw with us at one point three-nil down, leaves Eoin Doyle with a chance to equal history. Seven players previously, but not since Liverpool’s Jack Balmer in 1946, have scored a hat-trick of hat-trick!

Ahead of the game Chesterfield boss Paul Cook told BBC Radio Sheffield: ‘Defensively we were all over the place for the first 15 minutes on Tuesday but the last 60 I thought we were excellent.

‘Eoin will be the first to admit that some of the passing he has had have been sublime but his finishing has been top drawer.

‘Mentality plays a huge part and we have to concentrate and focus on ourselves.’
