Drew Talbot talking to the official site said:’Ive not scored many goals but I’ve got a knack of scoring at this place. As soon as I hit it, I knew it was in or on target at least and thankfully it’s won us the game.

‘I remember in the first half me and Conor (Townsend) had a couple of chances but they smothered us a little bit. We said at half-time to keep getting wide and he made a great run inside that took the full-back with him and I had a good touch, it sat up nice and I didn’t think twice.

Him and Townsend linked up well on the left, having to cope with the absence of Smith who is out for the rest of the season through injury. He had been in sensational form the most consistent player this season and hopefully he will be named Player of the Season which he deserves. Talbot then goes on to talk about Smith saying:

‘It’s unlucky for Smudge. Everyone’s devastated what’s happened to him. The gaffer has asked me if I could fill in there and me and Connor seem to do really well together. He’s a young lad, but he gives you a lot if information and I can fill in if he decides to bomb on.’

He then talks about the game:’We knew it would be tough, they are up there for a reason. People might say it’s only Burton but they’re up there for a reason and the table doesn’t lie.

‘We respected them and I think we dug in for the last 20 minutes. It might be a bit too late in the season, but as long as we’re still in the hat we’ll give it 100 per cent.

I think results might be dependent upon other people, but as long as we can keep winning our games hopefully someone will slip up.’

Another tough match on Easter Monday when the Spireites take on high flying Port Vale at the Proact. They won’t be looking forward too visiting the Proact having lost 2-0 at home to the Spireites earlier in the season. It’s not over until its mathematically impossible to make the Play-offs and hopefully this result will give the fans hope and hopefully a bumper crowd will turn up for this fixture.
