Should San Marino have an extra qualifying round ?

Fitness plays as big a part in football these days as much as skill, the whole diet and training techniques are specifically designed to create the fit, honed footballer that graces the field of play.

My question is, should FIFA the world of football high council implement pre qualifying or preliminary rounds for the nations who are let’s say outside the worlds top 100 ranked teams, just as it occurs in the greatest cup competition in the world the FA cup.

The FA cup started in early August with 758 teams allocated a place, by the time the first round proper comes round a total of 6 rounds of qualifying will have taken place to whittle the total number of teams to 32.

I ask the afore mentioned question in the light of Theo Walcotts’ injury Friday night against San Marino.

Was it a sickening challenge from someone who shouldn’t really be on the same pitch, or was it a mis-timed challenge that just looked worse the slower the TV replay was. Possibly the jury will be split 50/50, then you look later into the game, fatigue sets in, the outfield challenges become more rash, any sort of connection could well have led to serious injury.

Look at the facts, San Marino bought there leading all time goal scorer on, his grand total 7, another player came on, his 108th cap, he’d tasted victory 7 times but defeat on 98 occasions. Their captain was a banker, also in his team a postman and joiner along with other careers a million miles away from football.

Is it right for the football fan to be asked to watch teams of that standard, guaranteed the price is still the same.

This argument or question could role on, it would be interesting to hear your view.
