Chesterfield’s League 1 season continued with a two-one defeat against Millwall at the Proact Stadium on Saturday.

A one-nil lead was overturned with Chesterfield beaten two-one by Millwall in the end.

Sam Morsy’s had the Spireites ahead from 25-yards but Aiden O’Brien soon had Millwall level with Lee Gregory winning it for the Lions early in the second half to leave Chesterfield just two-points off the relegation zone.

These were the other results.

Saturday 23rd January 2016
Barnsley 6-1 Rochdale
Burton 1-2 Shrewsbury
Chesterfield 1-2 Millwall
Crewe 1-1 Wigan
Fleetwood 0-0 Doncaster
Gillingham 2-1 Peterborough
Oldham 0-1 Bury
Port Vale 1-1 Bradford
Scunthorpe 3-0 Colchester
Sheff Utd 1-1 Swindon
Southend 3-0 Coventry
Walsall 1-1 Blackpool

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Barnsley (6-1), Shrewsbury (2-1) and Southend (3-0) over Rochdale, Burton and Coventry respectively.

The league leaders, replaced by Gillingham, saw a three-match winning run ended with Burton beaten two-one at the Pirelli Stadium as Shrewsbury came from behind to win in injury-time to dent the Brewers’ title hopes but boost the Shrews’ survival hopes.

Southend’s own play-off bid was given a major boost with a three-nil win over a 10-man Coventry side as the Shrimpers ran out convincing winners over the Sky Blues at Roots Hall.

Without a doubt the performance of the weekend has to be the six-one win secured by Barnsley at Oakwell with the recent improvement by the Tykes continuing as they thrashed Rochdale!
