The September nominations for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month Award are:

Roy Carroll (Notts County) – goalkeeper
A great month for the Northern Ireland keeper, who conceded just two goals in five games. Organised the County defence well, but really starred by pulling off fine saves away to high-flying Peterborough United and Chesterfield.

Matt Done (Rochdale) – striker
Four goals and even more assists for the converted left-sided midfielder. No goals in 68 games prior to this season, he was inspirational with tackling, link-up play and spectacular finishes against Crawley Town and Leyton Orient.

Eoin Doyle (Chesterfield) – striker
Achieved the rare feat of scoring hat-tricks in successive games – against Scunthorpe United and Preston North End. Hugely popular with fans and team-mates for his appetite to chase lost causes. He is now adding goals with seven in four games.

Korey Smith (Bristol City) – midfielder
The midfield rock upon which City’s attacking play is built. Protects the back three by reading the play superbly and timing his interventions, he allows others to press forward freely. Provided an assist in the 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United.
