When Jimmy Ryan signed an initial 12 month contract in the summer of 2013 when he joined the club it was a agreed that after making a set number of appearances that his contract would be extended.

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international as been a great signing for the club, the midfielder keeps the ball well, often picking up the ball from the back, he then drives the team forward. He has formed a great partnership and understanding with Sam Morsy in the centre of midfield. They were both back together in the heart of Midfield on Saturday against Bury after both being out injured. They helped the team win 4-0, breaking up the visitors attacks and controlling midfield they kept driving the team forward.

He has made 26 appearances and scored 2 goals in all competitions for the Spireites this season. Manager Paul Cook told the club website: ‘We are delighted with Jimmy’s contribution and I know he’s very happy here so I think it’s a perfect fit.’

We the fans are delighted that he has extended his contract because he is one of the best midfielders we have had at the club.
