Chesterfield are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s midweek action.

The performance by Ched Evans in the two nil victory over Walsall last Tuesday at the Proact Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Evans was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Four goals in three Sky Bet League One games for Evans, firing the Spireites towards the top of the table and himself to the top of the goalscoring charts. Two of those strikes came in midweek, a late two-goal salvo seeing off Walsall.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Evans for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Bartosz Bialkowski (Ipswich Town), Nathan Smith (Port Vale), Ryan Edwards (Morecambe), Carl Magnay (Hartlepool United), Brennan Dickenson (Colchester United), Isaac Hayden (Newcastle United), Ryan Leonard (Southend United), Ricky Holmes (Charlton Athletic), Tom Nichols (Peterborough United), Ched Evans (Chesterfield), Gavin Massey (Leyton Orient).

Manager Nigel Clough (Burton Albion).
