A busy day on the transfer front for Chesterfield as manager John Sheridan steps up his recruitment drive following a poor start to the League One season.

Having secured a loan deal for Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Grounds, Sheridan is also being linked with Notts County striker Craig Westcarr.

A bid has reportedly been accepted for the 26-year-old Nottingham-born striker who came through the ranks at Forest and returned to his home town in 2009 to link up with the Magpies.

21 goals in 71 league starts have followed but current boss Martin Allen looks prepared to let Westcarr leave and make the short trip to Chesterfield.
